WINDSOR, ONTARIO, March 12, 2020 – SCAN Health is pleased to announce the winning teams of the annual SCAN Health Virtual Business Case Competition 2019/2020. This year, undergraduate and graduate students from leading universities around the world were tasked with creating a cybersecurity strategy for a U.S. health system that is inclusive of their supply chain, addresses the threat of gray market and counterfeit products and includes approaches to monetize the cyber hygiene capabilities. Given the increasing connectedness of various forms of medical devices and equipment, operational technologies, as well as potential points of vulnerability across the continuum of the healthcare value chain, it is vital that supply chain leaders be aware of potential threats as it pertains to outside partners or providers with access to mission critical and non-mission critical systems that may or may not be within the purview of the chief supply chain officer.

This year’s competition was hosted by Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The Competition winners will receive cash prizes and invitations to a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) event as an opportunity to connect with global leaders in health systems, industry, government, and academia. The proposals and presentations for the Competition’s top three teams can be found on the SCAN Health Knowledge Mobilization Platform.
This unique virtual competition enables emergent leaders from business schools around the world to compete and demonstrate their exceptional skill, knowledge and innovative ideas to advance supply chain strategy in health systems to achieve value for populations.
